Primary Headaches; Headache is a serious disease.
Types:
- Migraine, tension headaches
- Daily chronic headaches
- Cluster (heap) headaches
- Chronic paroxysmal hemicranias
- Hemicranias continue
Secondary Headaches: It occurs secondarily as sign of some diseases (cold, flu, sinusitis, meningitis, glaucoma, hypertension etc.)
MIGRAINE:

Migraine is a kind of headache with signs as nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light. Most of the patients feel the pain in a part of the head. Some patients can see stimuli called aura before headache. Aura is a visual defect (stars, zigzag lines)
Classification of Migraine
- Migraine with aura
- Migraine without aura
- Migraine with tension headache
Migraine can start between the age of 10-46. It is more frequent for women. Pregnancy can decrease migraine rashes.
Factors that impel Migraine:
- Allergic reaction
- Shiny light, noise, some smells
- Change in sleeping routines
- Smoking or be exposed to smoke
- Skipping meals
- Alcohol
- Change in Menstruation periods, birth control pills
- Headache tensions different than migraine
- Foods with tyramin (red wine, smoked fish, old cheeses, chicken liver, fig, some beans, monosodium glutamate, nitrates (salami, sausages)
- Other nutrients: Chocolate, nut, nut oil, avocado, banana, citrus fruits, onion, milky materials, fermented or pickled nutrients
Migraine pains can;
· Be as throbbing, stroke or pulsation
· Hold a part of the head
· Last 6-48 hours
Other indications occur with migraine:
- Nausea-vomiting
- Sensitivity to light and noise
- Appetite lost
- weakness
Tension Headache: its period changes from 30 min. to 7 days. It suits at least 2 of these criteria; two sided setting, weak or mid range pain which doesn’t increase with exercise, no phonophobia and/or photophobia.
Tension headaches can be confused with migraine without aura.
Daily Chronic Headache: It comes everyday; it has characteristics of migraine and tension headaches. It is caused by extreme use of pain killer and ergotamine.
